Greenfield Badge Co-design

Linsey McIntosh and I were commissioned by V&A Dundee to undergo a series of workshops from the feeder schools of the new Greenfield Academy, to co-design a logo and badge design to represent the school’s community.

We first facilitated V&A Dundee’s introductory ‘What is Design’ workshop, using and designing lemon squeezers. Pupils surveyed different pupils from the community, before returning for an affinity mapping session to understand the priorities and values to illustrate in the badge, and images associated with each one.

Working closely with the pupils, we developed a design summarising the school’s values of ambition, perseverance and love. We used imagery including a dandelion, herons and the two roots of the dandelion coming together to grow something new, representing the two old high schools.
